The restoration work continues!
For more than twenty years, the Sainte-Chapelle has been the subject of an extensive restoration programme, designed to protect it from the ravages of time and pollution and preserve its splendour for the long term.
This conservation work has already brought five of the seven bays of the apse, the north façade and the west rose back to life.
The two porches on the west facade, restored between 2021 and 2023, will now make way for the next restoration project on the south facade!
A new chapter for Ezekiel Bay
From early 2025, a new phase will begin with the restoration of Ezekiel's Bay, located between the apse and the south facade. This meticulous work will preserve the original features while respecting the work carried out in the 19th century during the "Great Restoration", which restored the badly damaged building to its medieval appearance. As with the stained glass windows already restored, double glazed windows will be installed to ensure their long-term preservation and better protect them from the ravages of time. Scaffolding will be erected both outside and inside the upper chapel to carry out these operations. This impressive project bears witness to the ongoing commitment to conserving this jewel of Gothic heritage!
The Sainte-Chapelle remains open to visitors at its usual times. Prepare your visit to the Sainte-Chapelle
